Physicist especially those that dwell in Quantum mechanics are continually amazed by the discovery of more and more sub-atomic particles as they increase their magnification. Will they ever come to the tiniest of them all???. Buddhism simply tell us, no matter where Consciousness rest, objects of awareness will appear and have consciousness as it essence.
To illustrate, it is mentioned in certain sutra 'on the tip of the buddha hair are countless buddha lands'
Sound incredible until we read what mainstream astro physics have to say. Our borderless universe come from the big bang out of a particle no bigger than a pea. We can both zoom in or out ,but one can never reach Infinity.
On record Albert Einstein is not the first to offer the concept of space-time continum as the ancient sutra already refer to our universe as Time-Space [ Shih- Cheh in chinese]
If we start from the default of being Awareness, then nothing ever happens as nothing ever existed

ReplyDeletePhysics is the study of nature, the discovery of how nature works and the formulation of 'physical laws' to describe the behaviour of nature. Searching for a "Theory Of Everything" is the Holy Grail of physics. Einstein failed in finding this "Theory", and the present generation of physicists are getting closer but the "Theory" is still beyond their grasp.
The Standard Model first developed in the 60's with subsequent refinements was considered the closest to a "Theory Of Everything" at that time. But the Standard Model could not explain or accommodate new 'discoveries' and newly observed phenomena. The String/Super String Theory has emerged as the 'new candidate' for consideration as "the Theory Of Everything".
The study of physics centers on building models that purports to describe nature in as complete a picture as possible. These models are almost exclusively developed from very dense mathematical formulas. In other words, physicists see the world as a set of mathematical formulas, and then breath 'life' into these formulas by giving them a physical form that we can grasp.
If the Model is at variance with observation, with some data or observed phenomenon not being included in the Model, the physicist just change the mathematical formula and add new terms (or variables) to reflect the new data/observation, and come up with a new Model. The new Model would then be tested to confirm the "existence" of new particles that explains the new data/observation. By intuition we know that if we look hard enough and long enough, that 'new particle' will evolve into our consciousness.
It is not surprising that deliberations at Conferences On Modern Physics are laden with Buddhist teachings/concepts like awareness, consciousness, illusion of the world and self. They now speak of the universe being a hologram. They are even pursuing research to prove that 'all information of the universe' are encoded on the surface of a black hole and re-projected out to form the hologram of the universe. If this is true, it means that when we pass from this world and having failed to realized the TRUTH, we would then be cast as a tiny dot on the surface of the black hole,to be re-projected into this samsaric world.
Physicists realized the role of consciousness long ago. At the 5th Solvay Conference in 1927 attended by literally all the eminent physicists of the day, they discussed and debated very extensively on the subject of Quantum Mechanics. One of sub topics discussed was the role of consciousness on the results of experimental data. Apparently different physicists conducting the same experiment with identical set up observed different results. This discovery was so stunning that it was kept out of the public's knowledge.
One of the Buddhist teaching is: Everything is false and illusory. The irony is in this samsaric world, we need to search and discover the "false and illusory particle" in order to make our physical laws consistent with what we observe in this false and samsaric world.
The scientist conclude that matter is dependent on consciousness. Only trouble is they are not aware of the nature of consciousness, as most assume it is the attribute of a person [as one will assume the weight is an attribute of the body] Consciousness is NOT personal, but an omnipresent field of awareness. As Newton awake to the field of gravity suggested by the weight of an apple. So too from our seemingly local awareness we intuit on the non-local whole. Jesus say the same thing when he announced that no body get to my father [Field of awareness] except through me [the apparent local awareness]
